Jun 12, 2007, 10:04 am The Gargoyles came away with a win from Saturday's Round 5 clash against the Toronto Central Blues. The team found itself short handed and a man down for the entire game due to some injuries and players with prior commitments. A fairly convincing win against a much improved Central Blues team that was really hungry was a great boost for the teams confidence. Game report to follow.
Final score Guelph 10.6. (66) defeated Central Blues 3.8. (26)
Goal Kickers: Carl O'Brien (3), Sam Irving (2), Matt Bannon (2), Matt Newark (2), Greg Logel (1)
May 27, 2007, 8:56 pm With a near full roster from choose from and some rookies keen to impress the Gargoyles took on the Roo's for their first home game of the year. The home team bounded out of the blocks early with the first goal to Obie with the midfielders getting plenty of the ball. Despite the Gargoyles having more of the play the Roo's showed why they are one of the yard sticks of the competition by using their possessions well towards the end of the quarter and kicking 3 goals.
Quarter Time:
Coaches Slinga and Lingus urged the team to use the ball better and make space and brought on first gamer Millar and Nick for some needed run. The Gargoyles played some much better footy putting pressure on the Roo's and the backs led by Dan, Bannon and Rich providing stiff opposition. With the Jeff and Obie kicking goals after some nice ball movement the Roo's steadied in the dying stages of the half with 2 goals from a free and 50m penalty.
Half Time:
Despite some poor discipline towards the end of the half the Gargoyles were keen to shut down the Roo's play makers and use the ball better coming into the forward line. Slinga set up Obie for his third for the first bounce and the Gargoyles had some momentum closing to 3 points. Nick, Millar and Captain Greg were in the thick of the action and Loi was running hard. Unfortunately centre man Zack went off with a knee injury. The halt in play let the Roo's regain composure and forced the Gargoyles to reshuffle. The Roo's started running hard and set up some nice goals, while the home team gave away another couple of goals through 50m penalties.
3 Quarter Time:
First gamer Ryan Zammit capped off a great performance with a goal from the boundary to start the final quarter. With the game to be won the Roo's spread the ball well around the ground to set up numerous chances with both teams hitting the post twice. With the Gargoyles tiring the Roo's took control and ran out the game well in the final 10 minutes for a well deserved win.

Apr 30, 2007, 4:34 pm The pre-season tournament was a good hit out for the team. The rookies had a chance to get a feel for the game with Ryan bagging a goal on his first day out. Coach Brad Slingo and team captain Greg Logel mixed up the positions for everyone in some of the games to see how it went and to get a feel for where the team members will be stationed for the season. Some nice running through the middle in the first game against Hamilton showed promise with Jason Fox hard at the ball all game helped out by Loi and Greg. The game against the Roos saw some good defense but also exposed that the team needs to do a little work on goal kickout drills. All in all a good day to see where we are at and prepare for Round 1 on May 5th against Hamilton. Apr 26, 2007, 10:27 am
